Hartzell Propeller has two openings in our Shipping Department. There are two full time positions available; a Shipping Lead and a Shipping Coordinator, located at Hartzell HQ in Piqua, Ohio. Responsibilities, requirements, technical skills and job expectations for these roles can be found below.

Shipping Lead:

Key Expected Deliverables

1) Identify and take action upon opportunities to implement process and efficiency improvements
2) Ensure accurate and timely shipments to Hartzell Propeller customers by managing day to day workload of department.
3) Manage relationships with freight companies and negotiate rates on behalf of Hartzell
4) Collaborate with others in the organization to accomplish company goals and to maintain customer satisfaction
5) Develop full knowledge and understanding of U.S. export regulations and Hartzell’s export compliance program.

Key Responsibilities

1) Manage carrier relationships and negotiate freight rates
2) Coordinate the day to day workload of the shipping department
3) Work with Export Compliance Manager to interpret U.S. export regulations to maintain procedures assuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
4) Act as backup to Export Compliance Manager
5) Prepare shipments for all Hartzell departments in accordance with customer requirements, applicable regulations and carrier requirements, including
a. Domestic and international courier shipments (Fedex/UPS).
b. LTL carrier shipments (Roadway, ABF, etc)
c. Export shipments via freight forwarders
d. Shipments requiring specialized documentation ie: dangerous goods shipments, licensed shipments, carnets, etc.
6) Process shipments in Hartzell’s customer order management system
7) Process FAA documentation
8) Communicate with carriers and schedule shipments
9) Coordinate special packaging if required
10) Prepare reports for internal and external customers as required
11) Negotiate freight claims and represent the interests of Hartzell and Hartzell customers for reimbursement
12) Assist in product classification in accordance with appropriate regulations (NMFC, EAR, etc.)

Required Education/Experience
o High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Business or a related field preferred
o 2 -3 years related experience and training
o Certification to ship dangerous goods preferred

Technical Competencies

1) Certified to ship Dangerous Goods (DOT & IATA)
2) Knowledge of and ability to comply with regulatory requirements as they apply to shipment of Hartzell product
a. Export regulations (including EAR, ITAR, FTR)
b. FAA regulations
c. DOT and NMFC – classification of goods
d. OSHA (MSDS) – as required for dangerous goods shipments
3) Knowledge of shipping-specific software and forms
4) Understanding of documentation required for shipments
5) Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external customers
6) Basic knowledge of Hartzell product required to determine shipment methods and
7) Proficient Computer Skills (MS-Office, Internet)
8) Accuracy, speed and attention to detail
9) Ability to work in a high stress, fast paced environment with rapidly changing priorities

Shipping Coordinator:

Key Expected Deliverables from the position

1) Ensure accurate and timely shipments to Hartzell Propeller customers. This includes both domestic and international shipments.

2) Work in team environment to accomplish company goals.

3) Identify and implement processes to accomplish work more efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

1) Prepare shipments for all Hartzell departments in accordance with customer requirements, applicable regulations and carrier requirements, including
