PIQUA, Ohio — May 19, 1999 — Hartzell Propeller Inc. announced today that it has received FAA certification for it’s 84″ three-bladed aluminum, compact propeller system for the FBA-2C1 Bush Hawk utility aircraft. Production deliveries to Found Aircraft’s Canadian manufacturing facilities commenced in March. The Hartzell prop was selected after a competitive fly-off. The prop was designed with wide chord blades to excel in low-speed thrust performance … a critical area for all aircraft operating on floats or in other bush applications. Hartzell’s extensive experience with float/bush plane applications was a significant part of the ultimate awarding of the contract.

The Bush Hawk has been certified by Transport Canada on floats as well as on conventional gear. Certification in the U.S. is pending. The aircraft is a high-wing, all metal five seater. The company expects to deliver as many as four aircraft a month once production is fully underway.

Hartzell Propeller Inc. is the world’s leading manufacturer of propeller systems, shipping into more than 25 countries in 1998. Hartzell enjoys a 60 percent market share on turboprop airliners and 85 percent market share on corporate turboprops. The 82-year old company is also well-known for its design leadership, having introduced the industry’s first full-feathering propeller for light twins, the first fully reversing propellers for corporate turboprops and the industry’s first composite structure blades.
