Certified Noise Level 8 dB(A) Below ICAO Chapter X Limit
PIQUA, Ohio – November 5, 1999 — Hartzell Propeller Inc., today announced the results of noise testing in Germany of its Cessna Caravan STC. A certified noise level of 76.9 dB(A) was achieved which is more than 8 dB(A) below the ICAO Chapter X limit, making it by far the quietest Caravan propeller available.
“Our new STC kit for the Caravan propeller should become the propeller of choice for any operations requiring minimum noise levels–including special mission applications.” said Brian E. Meyer, Hartzell’s Manager of STC Programs. “One European operator reported that their landing fees have been cut in half with our new propeller” he continued.
The Hartzell Top Prop™ STC kit allows installation of the 96 inch propeller 4-blade propeller on the Cessna 208, 208A and 208B Caravan aircraft. The reduced diameter also provides an additional 5 inches of ground clearance.
The propeller has a recommended TBO of 4,000 hours or 6 years, and comes with a standard Top Prop warranty of 3 years or 1,000 hours.
